My typologies were based on Numbers at first I was expecting most of the photos to look identical and dull although I found out that some of the numbers ended up placed in different ways and on different backgrounds, texture, colours with different font. I also found that some of the numbers were also mixed in with words and letters to form codes on different objects or to form dates and times. I also noticed that the numbers ended up showing up in random locations and in places I originally did not predict such as on the computer I was working on, my swipe card, even on the camera cases of the camera I was using this interested me since numbers seem to turn up all of the place and even looking now I can see some I missed during taking the ones above.
Taryn Simon
Taryn takes typologies of things that are ether connected in odd ways or people who are part of the same club or have a family connection E.T.C. This is interesting since it shows the drastic differences between everyone and everything despite being connected in a way you are unlikely to get unless you have been told about the connection first.

August Sander
August's work is very similar to Taryn's work because he takes photos of people who are part of the same group or are related although unlike Taryn's work he does take single photos of people to compare and contrast with other people at the time for example the children and the old woman and man this allows us to see how everyone dressed at the time and the differences between them all.

Ed Ruscha
Ed takes typologies of things like billboards, car parks and petrol stations, what is interesting about this is the way he takes these photographs most notably the images of car parks where he took photos during a helicopter ride to get the detail and shape of the car parks into the picture this is rather astonishing since it's not something I or anyone for that matter would normally think of since we would normally take photos of the view instead of something we would normally see as dull such as a car park.

Michael Wolf
Michael takes photographs of buildings and other objects which he can repeat in interesting patterns and shapes. Michael has taken photos all the way around the world but most notably in Hong Kong, one thing in particular I like about his photos is the unique, complexity of his photographs such as how the photos of the buildings are completely straight and orderly which the same type of shape repeated over and over again with minor difference of peoples belongings in the windows.

These photographs where taken on google maps in Australia where I went around looking for interesting things trapped in the moment originally I was interested in small shops on the other side of the world since I was looking in through the doors and having a look at the differences between Australia and England although I ended up getting side tracked down several streets since the amount of strange things I had seen which drawed me down each road until I got lost and could not find my way back.

Bernd & Hilla Becher
Urban, machinery, dull, decay, shape, structure, comparing the buildings to each other, order, keeping all photos the same (same camera, angle E.T.C.), making sure the photo is perfect, similarities/differences, not disturbing the compensation, printing the photos out large so they don’t get lost on a museum wall.
Bernd and Hilla's photographs have a industrial feel to them since they are typologies of many different types of buildings which are designed in many different ways so it seems like they are documenting the change and difference between each of the buildings throughout time which is a unique quality of their work. |
